Overall?
I was excited to play this game, but was actually disappointed. I'll start with the good. The graphics were pretty nice and smoothly animated (which is always a plus in any game or movie). The gameplay was very easy to grasp, and having two sets of controls is quite nice for those who prefer one over set up over the other. The comical storyline caught my attention, and being able to level up is great.
However, I felt this game was filled with problems.
The first is unbalanced enemies. Why is it that the Rat Zombie has 150 health and gives 15 experience, whereas the Doom Bat has 120 health and gives 40 experience (and the Pigman has only 50 more health than the Rat Zombie and gives far more experience). For the little experience they all give, though, they sure do a shitload of damage.
Next is the armour and health upgrades. I upgraded my armour in hopes of cutting back enemy damage by a lot. Didn't seem to do me much good (sure, Ratman R's projectiles went from max of 115 to maybe a max of 85, but that's still a lot). Also, what was the point of health upgrades? My health remained at 400 throughout the game that I played regardless of how many upgrades I made.
Finally, this is what made me stop playing. It's unclear what is expected of the player. I found two dungeons with a sword and shop, and a temple with a girl scout patch. After that, I couldn't find any other place to go. If it has something to do with the switch at the bottom of the cliff on the beach or the platform guarded by four Ratmen (behind some bushes on the west side of the map), then there isn't any clear indication of what's needed.
This game had great potential, but the above mentioned things make it less enjoyable. I'm sure that a lot of love and attention went into this game, but it just needs a few tweaks here and there.
