This is the Newgrounds I know and love. I'm glad that it still has these kinds of silly animations. Well done!

This was well worth the wait! Congrats on Daily 1st and probably soon to be Front Page! You guys did a phenomenal job!

Graeme responds:

Thanks Pelo my boi.
I'm glad to see the general consensus is that there are far less annoying sounds this time around. I'm not sure what makes people consider them annoying. That sort of thing never bothers me. I don't even get a shiver from nails on a chalkboard.

Wow...

Just wow! I must say, this is one heck of an animation here! Fast paced, very funny, unexpected punchlines, very smooth animating...hot dog, man, this is amazing! Great job!

Amazing Piece of Work

Like other animations, this one stands out because of its gritty style that masks a real world meaning, but it's also quite charming at the same time.

When I first watched this, I missed the meaning completely and actually mistook it for a comedy. However, once the mother pig gave up her child I realized I couldn't have been more wrong.

What makes this animation charming is the way you animate: Pig N (the pig we focus on), the two pigs playing Battleships, the man behind the desk, the quick (and sometimes silly) sound effects, and the very bizarre world they live in. These do good to make the film a little less grim. In fact, when we first see Pig N move around, that's what made me mistake this for a comedy.

In regards to the mother pig giving up her child, I've noticed that people seemed to hate the scene (and of course, those are most of the reviews you respond to). Thinking on it some, I don't think the death of the young one is the worst (read "horrible, horrifying") part of that scene, but rather how quickly she gets over the sorrow and guilt she has so she can get a quick fix. I'm not criticizing you putting it in there, but rather I'm saying you nailed that issue perfectly.

I get that the man behind the desk is supposed to symbolize the drug lords and how he can pull the strings of the pigs, but I don't understand why he wants to eat the pigs. For all I know, it could be a little extra something you put in as a filler, but I doubt that. Could it be showing how drug dealers will kill and dispose of the bodies of those who tried to screw them? (see also the long note on the receipt...holy shit, that was grim)

In the end, this is a great piece with a great meaning.

SpamClamberton responds:

He eats the pigs because he's a hungry fella. Also, if he's giving the pigs coins it would be plain silly if they paid him with money. No, in this world the drug dealer craves only pork.

Simply amazing.

At first I thought the story would be about Piconjo, and then I thought it was about a character you completely made up. I was wrong on both ends.

Simply put, the story telling was very well done; we see a different side of Pico, the way his mother cares for them both, and the way Peter idolizes his older brother is very heartwarming. The ending twist was somewhat predictable, but at the same time a good surprise (and quite a good back story to another character on this site). Plus the music complimented the whole thing very well.

My only complaint was Pico's voice. Oney has a great voice, but I personally think he went a little over the top for this. But that's just me.

Overall, I'm glad I watched this, and I congratulate you on a job well done.

Pros?
~Smooth animation.
~Cute in its own way.
~Good natured.

Cons?
~A little short.
~Sound quality is poor.

Overall?
Yeah, so what if you're trying to spread the word of God? If people can spread the word against Him, why can't others share their love? Please note, I'm not religious in the slightest, but I find it hypocritical when a person who openly declares one thing gets butthurt when his opponent says the other in a humble way.

Regardless, cute animation, but the sound quality could have been better.

Wow!

That was amazing! Though the animation style was cartoony, it flowed very well, matched the essence of the song, incredibly smooth, and the lip syncing was virtually perfect.

The right song with the right animation makes a phenomenal Flash. Props.

ActiveObjectX responds:

Glad you enjoyed it!

Amusing!

I must say, this was a very well done take on literature. It was simple, funny, but also told the main parts of the story. Kudos!

I can relate to you on making something like this for English class...I played off of Catcher in the Rye (oh god what a horrible book), but somehow got a 90. What did you get?

Nice little gem among the rough.

~Pelo

PeteGrammarman responds:

I believe I got at least a 90 on this, but I can't say for sure. And I thought Catcher in the Rye was a fine book, I'm going to watch your parody right now. Thanks for the review!

Beautiful

This is by far the best work you guys at Explosm have ever done. Period. The story is very well told (and even somewhat heartwarming). The animation was smooth, the graphics were great, and the music fit perfectly with the whole thing. Even if the ending seemed to kill the mood, it still is quite amusing.

Very well done, and I hope we'll get to see another beautiful short from you guys in the future.
